Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
After the deaths, public individuals expressed different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative claims that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide should have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the death was made.
