Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
Reform, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
