Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar failings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase such as this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
